The Development Action Program
The Development Action (DA) program is carried out by IICD participants enrolled in this program.
To qualify for a position in the DA program you need to consider to be serious about fulfilling the demands of the program. IICD has limited positions for the this program, so if you are considering this as an option for you, please read on with care!
The DA program is a 3 to 6 months course for people who also want to participate in one of the other programs at IICD, but who do not have enough money for the tuition fee.
During the program you will be involved with running together the school, practical development tasks and learning about development issues of the world today.
Promotion
As a DA, you will volunteer with IICD and do promotion six days a week. You will be part of a team promoting the IICD’s programs using different methods.
One objective of IICD is to mobilize people from the US and abroad to take action against poverty. This is the message you will be part of spreading via internet, posters, talking with people at universities, colleges, fairs and streets, making advertising campaigns, contributing to the IICD website, making movies for the IICD Youtube Channel, etc.
Garden Farming
It is the goal of IICD to become self sustainable with fruits and vegetables. IICD operates a huge organic vegetable garden producing healthy food. There is a lot of work and pleasure working in the garden. Growing seedings indoors for the coming season, preparing the soil with humus or horse manure, irrigation, planting, weeding, care of plants, organic bug control, harvest, food production, farmers market sales, etc.
DA programs start every month when positions are available.
