Cooperation with One World University
In September 2012, IICD will start a new program in cooperation with One World University in Maputo, Mozambique. We will offer a 3-year BA degree in Pedagogical Science.
One World University was established in 1998 by ADPP Mozambique (Ajuda de Desenvolvimento de Povo para Povo) - a member of the International Humana People to People Movement.
Since 1992, Humana People to People members in Africa and later also India have established Teacher Training Colleges, training rural primary school teachers to face the huge challenges in extending primary education to all children, to build schools for the future and to engage the local communities in the process.
One World University was established in order to train qualified teachers for the Teacher Training Colleges and has the approval to give BA degrees in three faculties: “Pedagogy”, “Fighting with The Poor” and “Polyhistor”.
Using the One World University (OWU) curriculum and standards, the students at IICD will be able to either get the education evaluated by an American evaluation board as a BA or to simply take the exams as a distance learners to the One World University in Mozambique.
The 3-year education at IICD in Dowagiac uses the curriculum from OWU Mozambique and then we have added some elements of our own and placed them in a 3-year structure of practice fields.
