Creating local connections and giving back

IICD receives hundreds of books a month in our clothes collection bins. These books are organized by children’s and adult books, and donated to various local organizations. We have donated books to organizations such as The Children’s Center, The YMCA, Beyond Basics, Vistas Nuevas Head-start, InsideOut Literacy, Detroit Public Library, Georgia Street Community Collective, and Operation Kid Equip.

We also participate in local street fairs, such as Georgia Street Community Collective street fair, and Clark Part Fair, where we hand out free books and toys to local children.

Furthermore, the Clothes Collection helps create good will about the important task of recycling, reusing and reducing the waste in our society.

The Clothes Collection creates employment and a good work environment for people who team up with us in the task of making it convenient and easy to recycle your clothes and shoes. IICD, MI has a warehouse in Taylor. We employ a total of 9 people in the clothes collection and we are proud to contribute to being a local non-profit creating jobs.
