Some benefits from the clothes collection

Businesses
We give the opportunity to local businesses to support our collection by hosting one or more of our drop boxes, free of charge. Hosting a box enhances a business’ environmental reputation and will likely attract some extra customers to the business.

Communities
We give you the chance to donate gently used clothes shoes, toys and books or household items into a drop box close to you. Tax receipts are available for any donation. If you want to make a large donation, we can arrange a house pickups too!

Next to our warehouse we have a food bank, offering free food to 8,000 needy families in our area. The worsening economic situation in Michigan has meant that more and more families are in need of food and other necessities. We often receive food donations in our boxes, which we pass on to Gleaner food bank.

Economic development
We create a number of jobs (7 full time,2 part time in an area of high unemployment. IICD is a humanistic organization, and we try and reflect that by creating a good working environment, where our employees are respected and treated well.

Furthermore, we give people the opportunity to buy affordable, reasonable quality, used clothing and shoes. They may use this themselves, or as a basis for starting a small business.
